More details ...

This excursion takes us to one of the most important smugglers' routes.
We will leave la Seu and take the road N-145, bound to Andorra. A first stop at the village of Anserall, on the Valira river, where we will see the ruins of the monastery of Sant Serni de Tavèrnoles, XI century. Once we have crossed the border between Spain and Andorra, we will arrive at Sant Julià de Lòria. After the village, we will take a road to the left, crossing the Valira river, bound to Os de Civís, past Bixessarri. Os de Civís (1.460m) is a Catalan highland village reached from Andorra. At Os de Civís, there starts the track which will lead us to Coll de Conflent (2.154m), the starting point of the climbing to Pic de Salòria (2.789m, 1h 45mi on foot).
Driving down the track, we will get to Bordes de Conflent, a legendarian site amid the smuggling stories. From here, many routes to many places: Santa Magdalena road, Farrera road... We will take the route leading to Coll d'Ares, a col with a beautiful sight of les Valls de Valira, the village of Arcavell, the Andorran mountains and the Cadí mountain range at the background. We will drive down to the village of Civís along a narrow road. Going past Civís, a road leads to the village of Ars (1.376m), with its Romanesque Sant Martí church and its rare cylindrical belfry, one of the very few in the Pyrenees (XI century). The valley slowly widens as we drive down to the village of Sant Joan Fumat, until we get to the bridge across the Valira river at the village of la Farga de Moles, and to the road N-145 back to la Seu.
